Introduction
NIMOU (Japanese Studies Information Network, NIMOU) is a list of researchers and institutions from all over the world engaged in Japanese studies built by the International Research Center for Japanese Studies (Nichibunken). NIMOU helps scholars and institutions to explore the trends and activities of Japanese studies in their respective countries and regions, and to save time to search Japanese studies scholars and research institutions distributed around the world.
History:
In 2012, Nichibunken launched a project to build a list of Japanese studies scholars and research institutions in order to facilitate exchanges and transnational research cooperation among researchers around the world engaged in Japanese studies. Initially, a list of foreign researchers who visited Nichibunken on various programs was prepared. Later, information of Japanese scholars and institutions engaged in Japanese studies was collected mainly from the internet and made available in the form of a database. In 2021, a revised version with newly and updated information was made available online. This database was named as NIMOU, a new nomenclature made by using two Chinese characters from its Japanese “Nihon Kenkyu Jōhōmō” (日本研究情報網). NIMOU’s logo has been placed on the top of the homepage.
Objectives
NIMOU is built to promote international research cooperation among scholars and research institutions involved in Japanese studies. Due to the generational change and increasing international mobility of Japanese studies scholars, networking among scholars and institutions is becoming increasingly complicated day by day. Moreover, the nature and scope of Japanese studies in various countries and regions are increasingly becoming diverse day by day. As a result, the state of Japanese studies can only be understood in a fragmented and partial manner. Accordingly, Nichibunken aims to maintain and share the global network of Japanese studies that is accessible to scholars, and by doing so, facilitates cooperation among Japanese studies scholars and institutions around the world through NIMOU.
NIMOU stores basic information like names of the researchers and institutions engaged in Japanese studies, and makes them searchable. It is possible to navigate to websites and relevant sources related to the researcher or institution from the URLs made available as part of the basic information and gather further information. It is possible to save time while gathering information about global Japanese studies via NIMOU. NIMOU helps scholars and institutions to explore the trends and activities of Japanese studies in their respective countries and regions for reference and to locate and cooperate with other scholars. NIMOU may be used only by members of academic institutions for academic purposes.

NIMOU（日本研究情報網、ニモウ）は、国際日本文化研究センター（日文研）が作成する、日本研究に携わる世界中の研究者と機関の一覧です。ニモウを経由することで、各国・地域の日本研究者と機関を探す手間を省き、世界の日本研究についての調査を容易にします。
《沿革》
日文研は、日本研究に携わる世界の研究者の交流と研究協力の国際的発展を促進するために、日本研究者と機関の一覧を作成するプロジェクトを2012年に開始しました。当初は、日文研に滞在した外国人研究員の名簿を整理しました。その後、世界各国の日本研究者や研究機関の情報を、主にインターネットから収集することを開始し、オンラインで公開しました。2021年には、新たに収集・更新した情報を新しいウェブサイト上で公開することになりました。また、「NIMOU」（ニモウ）という愛称をつけました。この愛称は、「日本研究情報網（にほんけんきゅうじょうほうもう）」の「ニ」と「モ」の文字を取っています。ウェブサイト上部にはNIMOUのロゴを載せました。
《目的》
ニモウは、日本研究に関わる研究者・研究機関の国際的な研究協力の促進に貢献するために作成されています。一般的に、日本研究者の世代交代や所属先の国際的な流動化の進展により、研究者のネットワークが失われたり複雑化したりする傾向にあります。また、各国・地域の日本研究の特徴や消長は多様化しています。そのため、世界の日本研究の現状を一面的、断片的にしか把握できなくなっています。そこで日文研は、ニモウを通して、見えるかたちで世界のネットワークを維持・共有し、世界の日本研究者・機関の協力関係を強めることを目指しています。
ニモウには、世界の日本研究者や機関の名称等の基本情報が収集してあり、それらを検索できます。さらに、基本情報の一部として集めているURLから各研究者や機関に関連するウェブサイトや資料に移動して情報をさらに収集できます。ニモウを経由することにより、世界の日本研究に関する情報収集の手間を省きます。また、世界の日本研究者や機関が、各国・地域の日本研究の動向や活動内容を調べて研究の参考にしたり、互いに所在を確認して協力をしたりすることを容易にします。ニモウは学術研究機関に属する方のみが学術研究目的に限って使用することができます。

ニモウに掲載されている情報は、以下から取得しています。
- 各研究機関のウェブサイト（掲載されている情報を引用し箇条書き等に編集しています）。

- 日文研の研究活動を通して収集した情報。
ニモウの各研究者と機関の詳細ページに引用元のウェブサイトのURLが表示してありますが、ウェブの性質上、リンク切れとなることがあります。掲載内容は、必要に応じて現地語から日本語または英語に翻訳されています。

ニモウには2つの検索方法があります。
- キーワード検索。ウェブサイトの上部にキーワード検索用の窓を設置しました。「研究関心」の窓からは、キーワードを自由に入力して研究者の具体的な研究関心を調べられます。キーワードとカテゴリー検索を組み合わせることもできます。
- カテゴリー検索を使って、世界の日本研究の機関や研究者の名前を探したり、その所在地や研究分野などを調べたりできます。
